Book week

Book week is a full on week that I was lucky to be a part of.  However I had to be creative on Friday as I was at One Day School.

On Monday Stu Duval came to school in the first half of the day. He did some cartooning with us. He turned the number 5 into a cartoon dinosaur, the letter M into an angry face and the word ‘um’ into a camel! In the 2nd half of school Stu Duval told us the story of the crash that happened way back in 1890s with the ‘HMS Orpheus’ ship.  For reading activities in room 6 we will also make bookmarks and posters to promote books.

On Tuesday for book week Stu Duval came to our classroom to answer some of the questions we had. One of the questions we asked was, how do you get your ideas, so he told us about his idea book. At the end we all (everyone who was there, some people left early) rushed towards him to get his autograph.

On Wednesday for book week James Russel (the author of the dragon tamers,  dragon hunters, dragon finders, and dragon defenders) came to school to tell us about the books he writes. He told us about the time he stabbed himself with a hunting knife (while trying to spilt some crumpets that were frozen together). As well as writing the words James puts in virtual reality links in the books.  This is really exciting to have parts of the book come to life!

I think book week is a good idea and is really good week for people who enjoy reading.
